The Hippocratic Crush II newbie actresses

The Hippocratic Crush II features lots of newbie actresses, so I wanted to have a small talk about it. I will also do a full review on the serie, but here are some quick comments about their acting.

Mandy Wong as Mei Suet
I'm not quite sure if Mandy is still considered a newbie...but the first time I saw her was in THC last year, so she seems new to me. She is really good at acting, and I wished I could have seen more from her and Benjamin Yuen. I loved seeing how she could be tough and serious with the new housmen, but at the same time, all she wants is the best for them. All in all, Mandy did a great job here, like she always does!

Eliza Sam as Che Che
Must say Eliza really did a breakthrough in her role as Che Che here! At first, she just seems like a happy/bubbly person, but then you find out that her character is actually so touching. I loved all the scenes where she cried and smiled at the same time. I think she made lots of people like her here, and though I already liked her, I just love her even more after seeing her here. Her role was an "angel" role and she was so nice to everyone. It was so sad to see her get weaker and weaker  everyday and eventually pass away...

Tracy Chu as Chin Yi
I didn't really know about Tracy before watching this serie. I just started it, and I was like, ohh just another newbie... then I learned that it was her first serie. I think she did pretty good, for a first timer! The only thing here is that..she got a bit too much screentime for a supporting role...Was her role even a supporting one? She was paired up with Lawrence Ng who was one of the main leads, so that's probably what got her all the attention. I wished they would have talked a bit less about her and "Ah Fai".

Crystal Li as Ah Ting
So, Ah Ting is suppose to be a shy and unconfident girl, and I think Crystal just did an ok job here. Could have been better. It seemed like Ah Ting was just a plain character without personality who cannot get over her crush (Onion), but yeah... More personality could have been added to this character.

+ Guest star: Grace Wong as Amber
It's my first time seeing her acting. Her character was so annoying...but I guess that is because she portrayed it well. Looking forward to see more from her :)

Featuring: Aimee Chan

I'm trying to do a artist feature at least every month :) This month, it is Aimee Chan! I've realized that recently, I haven't even got one tag with her, and since she's growing in popularity and is now a quite important artist of TVB, I wanted to create a whole post about her :)

General
Aimee is from Canada. Maybee that's one of the reasons why I like her, I don't know, I tend to like more artists that are from the same country as mine haha :P She is also one of the rare TVB actresses that graduated from University; she is a graphic designer and graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design :) So she's really well educated, she finished university before entering pageants. That's maybee why she entered a bit older, (she was overage for Miss World -.-) but she really looks young! The first time I saw her, which was in Forensic Heroes III, where she was already in her early 30s, I thought she was like in her early 20s :P She is always young at heart too :) Btw she looks so cute in the picture above with her mickey shirt hahaa :)

Acting
Series I've seen of her, in order ; Forensic Heroes III (Angel), The Other Truth (Iris), A Great Way to Care 2 (Jade)

In The Other Truth, she played a young raising artists who accused an Indian guy to have rapped her. In the end, they found out that she was lying. Aimee was only a guest star, yet she had an amazing performance :) I thought she did really good in all her crying scenes, and it's nice to see another side of her acting since in this serie, she was a really bad girl who lies :P

Featuring : Nancy Wu

Artist Featuring is a new feature I'm starting on this blog :) it resembles a lot at my usual "talks" where I write random things about everything I think of a certain artists;series, music, personal life, news,  etc. For this first time I want to feature Nancy Wu.

What made me chose her is this article that I read, about her thinking how she wasn't good enough. ->  http://asianuniverse.net/forums/Nancy_Wu_Am_I_That_Bad_t356873.html  I will come back to this later on in this post.

General
I looked her up on Wikipedia. She was known through her participation in TVB's 18th Annual New Talent Singing Awards competition (Top 4) as well as TVB's 3rd Annual Cover Girl Competition (Where she won many things). Then, she enrolled in TVB's acting class.

I'm always very impressed by actress who actually "learned" acting and went into acting class. They seem to be like the ones who really worked hard for it and really want it. (I'm not criticizing actresses who entered to TVB after winning pageants.. .but in some way, they actors who studied acting do seem to know more about it)

Series
Series I've seen of her ; Ten Brothers (Tong tong), Forensic Heroes III (Eva), Daddy Good Deeds (Wendy), Season Of Love (Chau Sang)

Ten Brothers is one of the series I watched a while ago, but I still remember her character well...because she had my chinese name in it :P She played a stubborn but kind girl in it. Her character seemed quite important since it was one of the only "girls" character in it (since there are 10 brothers; 10 guys) and I think she shared a good chemistry with Jack Wu. So she already left me a quite deep impression then, and even though I haven't watched any of her series from 2008-2011, I recognized her right away as "Tong Tong from 10 brothers" in Forensic Heroes 3. (which is rare because I didnt use to recognize people at that time) I saw her again last year in Daddy Good Deeds.

In both FH3 and DGD, she played the wife of someone. I could see that she made huge steps from Ten Brothers and her acting improved a lot :) Her scenes where she was mad & yelling, were very convincing. Eva, wife of Wayne Lai in FH3, was nice at first, then started to be irritating since she didn't seem to care about her family, but that was the goal and Nancy reached it. In DGD, she was the wife of Evergreen Mak and the sister in Law of Cilla Kung and Linda Chung. Together, they really looked like a real family :)

I recently watched Season Of Love and was happy to see Nancy again  in it. She seemed to have had a more important role and become the center of attention of the 5 episodes of the season since it was her life, that the whole story was around. Was interesting to see the 3 versions of her life, and I think she did well at showing the same character but with a different personality. Must not have been that easy since it had to look like the same person, but yet different. If you get what I mean.. :P
Even if I haven't saw the serie Gloves Come Off, I heard that she played a mute girl in it and used sign language. Once again, impressive :) I'm gald that she won Best Supporting actress for it at the TVB awards last december! It proves that she has the potential to act.

Singing

Another thing I wanted to mention is that..Nancy can sing!! I didn't knew she entered a tvb singing competition at first, so I was very impressed the first time I heard her singing at the New Year countdown. The song was really catchy and I enjoyed hearing Nancy sing it :)
& when I heard her singing at the Starhub awards, I was like yup, she can really sing! Sorry bout the quality of the second video... its the only good one I found xD Im so happy she sang the themesong of THC cause it's one of my favorite serie:) Plus, heard the person recording (or someone near) saying that she sang quite well, hehe :) Nancy really sings better then I though! (And better then some tvb singers too...:P)

News (article at top of the post)

The only news article I want to talk about it the one I posted at the beginning (especially the first two parts..)  I know Nancy had other news/rumors of boyfriends and stuff, but I don't want to get into that, it would be way too long and I don't want to comment on her relationship since I do not know that much about it..
So, I felt really sad for Nancy after reading that article and seeing her low self-esteem. I don't like her saying that she is not pretty enough, cause she is beautiful! If not, she wouldn't even be where she is right now. She has all the acting skills that she needs, so soon enough, I believe that she will get bigger roles. I hope so! Quoting her :  "I cannot control the ability of others, so I can only control my own abilities. I will just have to try my best and let the audience recognize I am someone worthy of challenges."
Love what she said :) She really seems to be really trying, so I wish all the best for her. Nancy, I support you lots!! The article also talked about how she could pair with Wayne, and I agree! She really looked like a great couple with him in FH3 and the two seemed to share a good chemistry. Hope that her pairing with Wayne can be advantageous for her by allowing her to have bigger roles in series :) Looking forward to see more from Nancy!!

*When I write these kind of things, I sometimes secretly expect that the artist will read it, if ever they randomly google themselves and bump onto my website, haha. That's why I say "you" sometimes, like for "I support you" :P Just ignore it if you're a regular reader, hahahaha xD

Inbound Troubles Review

Finally watched and finished Inbound Troubles!!! I really do not regret watching it because it was very good, way more then I expected. I never planned on watching this serie since the cast didn't interested me at all, and it's not until I heard all the good reviews about it that I decided to give it a try. It really impressed me, I never thought I would like it since I don't especially like any of the artists in it, but I did :)
The overall story was funny, but it's each and everyone of the characters that surprised me the most. I've never seen most of them, but maybe it's because of this fresh new cast that bought something special to this drama. Most of the characters were all crazy and naive, but yet funny and cute :)

Roger Kwok as Ng Ga Yee
I never saw him in series before, but apparently he's really popular? Haha. But his acting was quite good in the serie. He was a very nice guy, a bit too nice towards his ex-girlfriend, Suk Jing. In the end, I'm very glad he ended up marrying Suet-Fei because they are way more matchy, both so kind and warm hearted. :)

Wong Cho-lam as Choi Sum
Choi Sum was so funny! Plus I think Cho-Lam really worked hard on everything this time, especially his accent that he really imitated well! He was cute trying to make Ching Ching love him and his facial espressions never failed at making me laugh :P He is intelligent but is not very experienced in life. You could feel that he was a very naive characters who takes life simply, but a very nice person as well.

Joey Meng as Yik Suet-fei
I never heard of her before either, but I guess it's normal since it is her first tvb serie. She did quite well in it, I really liked her character! :) She was really kind and liked to help everybody. I'm so happy for her that she married Ga Yee because she deserves to have someone to love after all :)

Ivana Wong as Ng Chi-ching
I first heard about Ivana a few weeks ago, at the JSG awards. It's not too bad for her debut serie. Although I don't think she was too matchy with either Choi Sum or Chiu Chiu, I still liked her character in the serie because she can really sing well, I loved all the songs she sang in it!

Angela Tong as Szema Suk jing
Angela Tong was the only artist I really knew before watching this drama :P Her character was quite annoying, but it was the point of the serie. I really could not believe the part where she told Sophia & the other elderies to pretend to be ghost in the Ga Yee's house and how NOT thankful she was for Ga Yee! Anyways, her acting was good and it really showed in the parts where she cried or yelled.

Mimi Chu as Mong Lo
I felt a bit bad for her character....sad that her husband left her with their son, and she waited for them forever but they never came back. Something that I expected though is her reconciling with Mary? I still don't really understand the whole part with Mary giving part of her rent, and telling the guy to yell after her. But I guess that part isn't too important to the serie....

Bowie Wu as Benjamin
He made me laugh since the first episode, hahaha :P He was really funny trying to look "gangster" or whatever, and it did work :)

Bob Law as Ching Siu-shan
Omg, Siu Shan, most annoying and ugly character ever! I hated his wig so much, especially the second one! Since the beginning, I found him annoying trying to be around his best friend's girlfriend all the time....just have hate hate hate towards him xD Btw, is it me or he really looks like Bobby Au Yeung without the wig? :P Funny how one's name Bob and the other one Bobby xD

Corinna Chamberlain as Nip Siu-sin
Last but not least, Corinna. Couldn't been more impressed by her cantonese :O She speaks with no accent at all, and can even sing. Can't wait to see more from her :)

*This is more like a character review, but I will also tag it as a drama review since I won't do any other reviews on it :P

Character Review [Tavia Yeung]

After Linda, the person who I've seen the most series of is probably Tavia :) (I will eventually finish my character review of Linda and do a favorite actress post for Tavia) xD So here's the review of all of her characters I've watched ;) Although I'm doing it in order of the release dates of the serie, this is NOT the order that I've watch them!

Ah Yan in Yummy Yummy (Food for life)
Wow...I've watch this serie like in 2010 even if it came out way before just because of Tavia and Raymond....now looking back, she looks SO different!! Hum..in her recent series, she plays more "strong girl" roles, like in TOT and in THC...back then she was younger, and had roles of the little sister, and innocent girl.

Jackie in Heart of Greed
I love seeing characters who evoluate throughout the serie...and Jackie definetly did!! I love how she used to be hated by Gilbert (Bosco Wong)'s family, but they learned to know her and her background and accepted her in the end after she showed how she changed :)

Ho Fa in On the First Beat
Umm..out of all series, this is definetly the one I've watched when I was youngest...didn't know Tavia was in it till I looked for Tavia's drama list in wikipedia! Haha at that time I didn't knew TVB artists' names...so not much to say... xD

Joey in Fathers and Sons
Ouhhh, I loved this character! I loved how caring she is and how much she loved children :) Ididn't liked the pairing with Wong He, but luckly she ended up with Chris Lai which is much better then Wong He!! :) This character left me a deep impression...I don't know why...I think it's, again, because she likes to take care of children and it really showed in the serie :)

Ah Yuet in Moonlight Resonance
I loved loved loved her character! She was a stubborn girl with a nice heart...Everything Sa Yi and Ka Mei did to her made me feel very sad for her :( She had a really awkard relationship with Ah Ka since they were siblings, although she was adopted. And I think she did really well in her numerous crying scenes, no wonder why she won the Best Supporting Actress award that year!

Ah Suet in Sweetnest in the Salt
Hmmmm for some reason, even if I remember that I really insisted on watching this serie for Tavia, I don't think it was a too memorable character/serie...Actually I don't remember too much about the storyline, only the ending, when she reunited with Steven Ma, I was quite happy for her xD

Yiu Kam Ling in Beyond the Realm of Conscience
Now, that was a memorable serie and character! :D It showed such a different side of Tavia and her acting skills! I really support her for winning My Favorite Female Character, she deserved it so much! I mean, I think we can all see that she worked very hard to enter the character, the way she talks, her voice, how she acts, everything!

Sai Lai Miu in The Mysteries of Love
Umm...for this character and serie...it's a bit like Swetnest in the Salt...didn't left me a too deep memory. But I enjoyed watching FungYi :D I think they make such a perfect matching and they're so cute together ;) I'm so glad they ended up together in the serie!

Sze Long in The Rippling Blossom
I think I'd say the serie overall and all the characters was...interesting but not that good. Like the plot was intriguing, but it was everything was a bit random....I have not mugh to say on Tavia's character...And I think the pairing with Michael Tse wa so-so....

Miss Ho in Yes, Sir! Sorry, Sir!
Miss Ho...another one of Tavia's sweet, innocent, and nice character. Reminds me a bit of Joey in Fathers and Sons I guest...even if this time she's a teacher for high school students, she still loves to help -this time not children but teenagers, or just her students. I would rather her end up with Ron, but I guess with Moses it's not bad either!

Mavis in The Other Truth
Mavis is another awsome character of  Tavia :) I loved how professional she looked as a lawyer, and her changing relationships with Raymond Wong and Ruco Chan too :) She was annoyed by both in the beginning of the serie, but at the end, she loves both of them and has a hard time choosing which one she wanted to be with.

Yu Jai in The Hippocratic Crush
Like in The Other Truth...loved the professionalism Tavia had and it was as if she really knew what she was doing as a doctor :) In this time, unlike in Yummy Yummy, Tavia has now grew up and plays the big sister role in the traditional "long lost sister" tvb storyline with Mandy Wong! Lovedd her role and just the serie overall!

Hum...actually, after listing all that out, I think I've watched more series of Tavia then Linda! :O Haha i'll see that after my Linda post :) For now...I don't really have "favorites" for Tavia's roles...love most of them except the ones I mention I didn't like/remember too much!

Moonlight Resonance Character Review [Younger Generation Actors]

Here's the younger generation's character review...but there are so much interesting characters! godd I feel like this is gonna be a loonggg post! Let's start with the ladies first :)

Ah Yuet played by Tavia Yeung
I loved loved loved her character! She was a stubborn girl with a nice heart...Everything Sa Yi and Ka Mei did to her made me feel very sad for her :( She had a really awkard relationship with Ah Ka since they were siblings, although she was adopted. And I think she did really well in her numerous crying scenes, no wonder why she won the Best Supporting Actress award that year!
Ah Tsau played by Linda Chung
Ah Tsau was my favorite character....her relationship storyline was also very interesting! She was torn in between two men, one who's her stepbrother and one who already has a girlfriend. She was very kind and knew what right decisions she had to make, even if they were not easy. I'm glad she ended up with Goon Ga Jai! :)
Ah Hing played by Fala Chen
Although Fala only had a minor supporting role, I think she did extremly great as acting as a mute girl! Since she could not talk, her acting skills had to be shown in her facial expressions. I think it was also very hard, since she had to learn all the signs, but she did it well! :) And also I loved her relationship with Kevin, they were so cute together!
Ka Mei played by Kate Tsui
Ka Mei was the main vilain from the younger generations....she was so evil....Fortunatly she still has a minimum of heart and became nicer after her mother saved her from a car accident! I definetly think she does a better pair with Ah Yuen rather then Ah Ka :) I'm glad she ended up with Ah Yuen so that Ah Yuet could be with Ah Ka!
Goon Ga Jai played by Raymond Lam
Goon Ga Jai was definetly my favorite male character from the whole drama! He was so kind with everyone, especially his family. He's the second oldest but he seem to have taken the role of the oldest and took well care of all his siblings. Love him so much :) Plus he makes a perfect match with Ah Tsau even if they're stepsiblings ♥

Ah Ka played by Moses Chan
Ah Ka was so funny....Moses really got into his character well! I loved the scene were he annoyed his ex-boss Eliza with his ringtone that he recoreded from Ah Yuet's phone. I'm so glad him and Ah Yuet could be together after their relation was ruined by Ka Mei. I'm also glad he didn't die, haha I thougth he died at the end of the serie when he closed his eyes, but he didn't ^^
Dr. Ling played by Bosco Wong
And finally...last but not least, Dr. Ling played by Bosco Wong :) He was such an intersting and intriguing character....He was kind of not so nice to Wing Lam, but in the end, he still stayed by her side until her last moments and left Ah Tsau to Goon Ga Jai which makes up for everything :)
