Coffee Cat Mama ep 1-5 Review

I don't actually know if I'm liking this drama or not. It is funny and boring at the same time... I must admit that Bosco & his son are funny. Their names make me laugh. Bosco is "Tai Tsi Bao" which is a raisin bun and his son is "Bao Jo Gong" which is the guy who rents place to live to people. A Part that really made me laugh was when Bosco was in the hospital and him & his son were worrying about each other not being able to sleep alone, so his son called him to ask him if he was okay. He was like "I'm alright, look, a lot of people here are staying with me!" and his son was like, "Don't be silly, the people in the hospital are sick. They don,t have to to stay with you." loll.  Bosco Wong, Koo Ming Wah and Vincent Wong form a really funny trio together too. LOL @ Siu Bo too.

Other than that.. the actual story about the Coffee shop is kind of boring. Not much is happening... they opened the store, people got sick because of the cakes, so buisness is bad.. and that's about it :/

Eliza Sam's acting is not bad either! I just don't really see her and Bosco as a couple... lol. They haven't started yet, and I don't know when they will.

I'm not sure if I should keep watching this series. It is definitely not a must watch of this year. It's not something that keeps me "hooked" , like, when you finish one episode, you don't really anticipate the next one. I just keep watching because I have time to waste :P

The Hippocratic Crush II Review

Storyline:
Like: It was full of action, with one case/problem following another. And 1 case does not last 5-6 episodes, it usually lasted 2-3 so there was lots of action and the story was moving on quickly.

Dislike: Too many hospitalization with the main characters and their family. I mean.. almost everyone was sick/injured. Yu Jai, Yat Kin, Yat Kin's mom, Lokman, Yannis, David, Chin Yi's son, Che Che, Che Che's uncle, Yu Jai's grandmother, Siu Yik.. and I probably forgot a couple. I mean, they could have less illness within their family and friends and more of the other cases that do not involve the main characters.. those are interesting too!

Screentime:
Like: I know a lot of people did not enjoy the overall serie because there are too many side stories and not enough focus on the main characters Tavia and Kenneth, but I guess I was ok with it since I like seeing newbies acting. I especially enjoyed watching Him Law and Eliza Sam, they shared such a special chemistry together!

Anticipation level: 4.5/5

This series is really the type of series I like. I'm excited to see Eliza Sam as the main lead and to see what she'll bring to this series. Plus, I haven't seen Michelle Yim for a while, and she's one of the only veteran actress I like.

I don't really like ancient dramas, but Myolie, Ron, Him and Eliza are some of my favorite TVB artists, so I'll be watching only if the ratings are good or if people say it is funny and worth watching.

*I'm so glad most character have a english name, makes my review a lot easier! hehe :) 

This drama really surprised me. It was really out of the ordinary and different from other TVB dramas. I'm glad I gave it a try, even if I haven't watched the first one! 

First thing to mention, the artists. The fact that this serie was played by so many well known artist really attracted me to watch it. Aimee, Edwin, Christine & Oscar are all supporting actors/actresses that I love! :) But of course, there's also Tavia & Ben :) Before this serie, I never watched Alex and rarely Yoyo, so this serie allowed me to discover more from them :)

First, the cases. They were interesting and I feel like I learned new things :) The series about crime that I have watched in the past are usually about police, forensics, and lawyers. This was the first time that was involving psychiatrists or psychologist, so I found it really special. I'm interested in psychology so it was interesting :) 

Another hing I really liked about this serie is how love was portrayed. It was just okay and did not overwhelmed the rest of the serie & the cases. They actually didn't talked much about it neither for Ah Yan & Chung Kwok-ban nor for Lois and  Dr. Ko Lap-yan. It was just like, they hook up, okay, cool. The ones that they did developped a lot was between Jackson, Jade and Scarlett. It was funny to see how Jackson loved both of them so much and tried to date both of them without the other knowing. While that was going on, I was secretly hoping he'd end up with Jade :) Cause I saw Edwin & Aimme as a couple in FH3, they were so cute! I'm glad this time they have a happy ending!

Tavia's acting was awsome in this serie :) From a nice & kind hearted policewoman to a horrible & cool blooded killer, you could really feel her character. Her facial expression and the way she talked seemed so realistic, like her eyes when she was killing someone. I'm pretty sure for her that she'll get a spot in Best actress or Favorite Actress in the next awards with this character :) 

The ending was really surprising! I didn't expected Ah Yan to commit suicide. It's kinda sad...I would have rather prefer seeing her recover slowly with the help of Dr. Ko Lap-Yan & Lois. 

I heard that some parts were cut from the serie? Its a bit upsetting :/ It showed a bit, like both times when Tavia was in the hospital, it was as if she was immediatly recovered the second after. Which didn't make sense.. .Also, Franco, Lois' boyfriend had NO screentime. He died, and like 'pop', he's burried. It was too quick! I wished they showed more of Lois' reaction. 

I would write a longer review if I had time, but I'm really busy nowadays so here are my quick thoughts for now! Overall, loved the serie & really worth watching :)

Season Of Love Review

Here's my review of Season Of Love, really wanted to share my thoughts bout this series :) It's gonna be a bit different from my usual reviews though. I usually write random thoughts on one or more episode, but this time around I wanted to do a sort of "viewer response" to each story I've seen, like I do "reader response" to books I read in my English classes :P (Allows me to practice doing those and its something different then usual too ;)) I have my initial thoughts, themes, comparing with another serie . Just Read! :)
 Problem...it ttook SOO much time :P That's why I only managed to do it for the spring season, for the others I only wrote thoughts :) But please leave a comment down here or in the chatbox to let me know if you like my "responses" style review ;)

Spring :

I wasn't too surprised by the story since I thought it was just another common tvb story line. Two people fall in love, but they don't think they can be a couple since they live in two complete different world, but in the end it works out. Although I'm not a huge fan of Toby Leung and thought many other tvb actresses could have portrayed her character better, I thought the other artists such as Him Law and Kandy Wong. Season (Him Law) really did look irritating at first but sweet after all, and Mui Chu (Kandy Wong), the litlle sister, was just really cute throughout the serie.

One of the main themes of this serie is that one should not judge another person unless they truly know them. During this spring season, all the characters have prejudices towards one another. Even if they don't really know each other, they think they do and have negative thoughts about them. For example, Chun Fun (Toby Leung) thinks that Season is just a selfish superstar and hates him at first, but she later, when he rushes to the hospital to see his mother even if he was really busy, she founds out that he is a very caring person.That is why she changes her mind about him and falls in love with him. Another example is that when Season, his manager and his assistant first saw Chun Fun, they didn't like her much and treated her poorly. She wasn't an important character to them, only the car driver and did not care about her feelings.They even accused her of sending out the pictures. Later, they found out that it was not true and want to hire her again because they discovered that she really was a person they could rely on.

This story made me think of Vincent and Yi-Hei's storyline in Divas in Distress. In both stories, the guys considered from a higher class and are wealthier then the girls. Because of this, they say think that the girls are inferior to them so even when they fall in love, they cannot believe themselves and refuse to admit it. Later on, it is fine to love the girl even if they are very different. In Divas, Vincent's mom is opposing to their relationship while in Season of Love, it is Season's manager. Nevertheless, both Vincent and Season manage to date their girls.

Summer:

Summer story was my favorite story of all 4. The part that intrigued me the most was Ng Chun Kai (Ron Ng) 's leg. I was really excited to know more about it, and I originally really thought that he got bitten by a wild animal. The other interesting part is Jack (William Chak). I really thought he was a nice guy at first...he really scared me! I did not expected him to be a villain at all :P I'm glad that he changed at the end :)

Fall:

I was glad to see Nancy Wu and Oscar Leung :) It was interesting to see the 3 versions of the story and how Chau Sang (Nancy Wu) 's life ended up badly in the first two stories, and how she learned to change her attitude in the last one. What confused me a bit though, is that it had no link to the rest of the seasons and Kenneth wasn't even in the 3rd version? It seemed a bit disconnected to the rest of the serie...However, I liked how they showed mini Chau Sang (Suki Lam!!) because it really reflected the whole story :)

Winter:
The only thing I liked about winter is the actors....Myolie Wu and Kenneth Ma. I think the rest of the story was poorly written, and there were things that did not make sense. Like, when Tung Nei (Myolie Wu) did not knew that she has forgotten a part of her life in 1997. Usually, people forget, but they know that they went into hospital and forgot something. Tung Nei did not seem to know that something happened to her, which seemed a bit weird to me. Also, why did they used someone else to portray the younger version of her?? It was her teenage version, so they should have used Myolie instead. It made me very confused at first because I didn't get why she was dreaming of a random girl. I also thought her boyfriend would be Cho On (Kenneth Ma), and that he lost memory too, or something! (Cause the younger version of the bf DID look like him...think he played Kenneth's younger version in The Hippocratic Crush too..) Anyways. This story seemed to be rushed, and there were a bit too much coincidences, like the fact that Cho On's father was actually the storekeeper and that he kept the diary he thought he was him, etc. I didn't really like the story in general :/

Overall:
The thing that attracted me most to watch this serie was Him Law, Ron Ng, Nancy Wu, Oscar Leung, Myolie Wu and Kenneth Ma...I thought I'd really like it since so many artists that I like are in it...but no :/ Overall, it was just ok- really not a must-watch. Another thing that confused me was that, did Tung Nei and Cho On's story happened before all the others? cause he had pics of her in his phone in the first two stories...but it doesn't make sense since when Tung Nei was mad at him, he was busy searching about Tung Nei's case so he could not take care of the other ones? Confusing :/ Don't really recommend watching this series, unless all you want is to support the artists in it xD Must say their acting was quite well, despite my dislike for the story :P

Wish and Switch ep 1-5 review

I never really planned on watching this, but since it was airing on Fairchild and I am on spring break, I caught the first 5 episodes of this and really wanted to write something about it because this serie is quite...special. I think that the story contains a great message, and I already see it in the first episodes.
I feel quite bad for Shuk Heung (Myolie Wu)..her character is very lovable, she takes care of the whole family, but noone seems to be thankful for her. She tries to help her husband, Yes Sir & Yes Madam, Jade, her brothers, Ga Kam, Hailey...but doesn't get anything good in return. She was happy that that "magic website" work, but I felt really sad that everything turned bad for her.. ;( And it's not only that she lost her candy, got frighten by frogs, and gained weight, but other things too. She ended up in the hospital, garbage/water felt on her, her lil brother yelled on her, Yes Sir yelled on her, her husband had a girlfriend...etc. The whole time I was like, poor Shuk Heung...she deoesn't deserves that at all!
There were also really funny parts too, like when Shuk Heung was going like "Ahh, Im scared of the frog," and then telling herself if it counts as the trade or when her pants were falling as the thief was asking her to put her hands up. Really loved her character :)
At the end of episode 5, she switched life with Hailey. I already know that the next episodes will be about them trying to adapt, and in the end they will find out that they preferred they old lives better...the message that I was saying earlier will be something about fate and accepting reality, and how it is not necessarily good to change everything. I wish I could continue to watch this serie because it seems quite interesting, but I doubt I'll have time. That's it for now, I will write more about this serie if I find time to watch it :)

Inbound Troubles Review

Finally watched and finished Inbound Troubles!!! I really do not regret watching it because it was very good, way more then I expected. I never planned on watching this serie since the cast didn't interested me at all, and it's not until I heard all the good reviews about it that I decided to give it a try. It really impressed me, I never thought I would like it since I don't especially like any of the artists in it, but I did :)
The overall story was funny, but it's each and everyone of the characters that surprised me the most. I've never seen most of them, but maybe it's because of this fresh new cast that bought something special to this drama. Most of the characters were all crazy and naive, but yet funny and cute :)

Roger Kwok as Ng Ga Yee
I never saw him in series before, but apparently he's really popular? Haha. But his acting was quite good in the serie. He was a very nice guy, a bit too nice towards his ex-girlfriend, Suk Jing. In the end, I'm very glad he ended up marrying Suet-Fei because they are way more matchy, both so kind and warm hearted. :)

Wong Cho-lam as Choi Sum 
Choi Sum was so funny! Plus I think Cho-Lam really worked hard on everything this time, especially his accent that he really imitated well! He was cute trying to make Ching Ching love him and his facial espressions never failed at making me laugh :P He is intelligent but is not very experienced in life. You could feel that he was a very naive characters who takes life simply, but a very nice person as well.


Joey Meng as Yik Suet-fei 

I never heard of her before either, but I guess it's normal since it is her first tvb serie. She did quite well in it, I really liked her character! :) She was really kind and liked to help everybody. I'm so happy for her that she married Ga Yee because she deserves to have someone to love after all :)


Ivana Wong as Ng Chi-ching 
I first heard about Ivana a few weeks ago, at the JSG awards.It's not too bad for her debut serie. Although I don't think she was too matchy with either Choi Sum or Chiu Chiu, I still liked her character in the serie because she can really sing well, I loved all the songs she sang in it!


Angela Tong as Szema Suk jing

Angela Tong was the only artist I really knew before watching this drama :P Her character was quite annoying, but it was the point of the serie. I really could not believe the part where she told Sophia & the other elderies to pretend to be ghost in the Ga Yee's house and how NOT thankful she was for Ga Yee! Anyways, her acting was good and it really showed in the parts where she cried or yelled.

Mimi Chu as Mong Lo

I felt a bit bad for her character....sad that her husband left her with their son, and she waited for them forever but they never came back. Something that I expected though is her reconciling with Mary? I still don't really understand the whole part with Mary giving part of her rent, and telling the guy to yell after her. But I guess that part isn't too important to the serie....

Bowie Wu as Benjamin

He made me laugh since the first episode, hahaha :P He was really funny trying to look "gangster" or whatever, and it did work :)





Bob Law as Ching Siu-shan

Omg, Siu Shan, most annoying and ugly character ever! I hated his wig so much, especially the second one! Since the beginning, I found him annoying trying to be around his best friend's girlfriend all the time....just have hate hate hate towards him xD Btw, is it me or he really looks like Bobby Au Yeung without the wig? :P Funny how one's name Bob and the other one Bobby xD

Corinna Chamberlain as Nip Siu-sin 
Last but not least, Corinna. Couldn't been more impressed by her cantonese :O She speaks with no accent at all, and can even sing. Can't wait to see more from her :)

Missing You ending (ep 16-20) review

*Spoiler alert, + this post is quite long!! * I finally finished watching this serie! Although it was a bit boring at the beginning, it good really good at the end :) Like most series that deal with "cases", the last case of the series is ALWAYS related to the main characters themselves. This was no different for Missing You. It all started with Yu Fong's brother, Yu Pak who's grades dropped and didn't enter university, so he left home. Yu Fong was really worried, and it was nice to see Yik Him accompanying her to go everywhere to search for him. He even got hit by the bad guys at the bar, but luckly Sam's father called the police and they were saved :) I was glad they FINALLY told what happened to Yu Pak's foot, I was waiting for that since episode one, when Yu Fong was having a flashback of herself searching for her brother! Anyways, so Yu Pak was found in the end by his sister and is fine :) Thanks to his friend Sam, too!

Then, they talked about Yik Him's case. I was like OMGG when Hailey when to their office and said she was looking for her brother, Sze Yik Him. I thought he Yik Him was gonna say it was him right away xD But he didn't, and I was really impatient to see Hailey's reaction to know that he was his brother. When he finally decided to tell her, everything when so quick! I thought there was gonna be the traditional tvb problem, "I don't want to see my mom" or something like that, but it didn't happen. He called her "mom" right away. I was really suprised to see her mom, I think Mary Hon did really good at acting (probably the make up artists did a great job too xD) cause she really did look super sick. It was so sad when they came back from Ocean Park, and when Yik Him finally was able to talk to his mom...she passed away. :( I was really sad for him, but at least he had a sister ♥  

Then, they talked bout Vincci and Marcus a bit. Marcus is so evil! I hate him. He used Vincci for everything. When Vincci came back, Yik Him was so nice to him! It was HER that kinda dumped him, but it was him that helped her out through everything. It was a bit awkward though when she moved back into his house since Yik Him's co-worker, the computer guy, was there. It was funny when he told later to Crystal that he didn't know anything about their relationship, stayed in the room the whole time and said he wouldn't have dare to come out no matter what! 

More about Yik Him's family now. He realized he had a father after reading her mom's diary message to him, and cried. I thought he was mad at him and wouldn't forgive him...but again, I was wrong. He's really way too much of a nice guy! Sam's mom, on the other hand, is a really bad women. Her voice sounded mean since the beginning, but since Sam is a nice guy, I didn't really suspected her to be a villain. I started doubting more when she asked all sort of questions to Vincci, and when she individually met Yik Him, I realized that she was really bad. I honestly thought that what she said in the first place to Yik Him was real.....I was so upset to know that it wasn't, and she just didn't wanted Yik Him to be with his father again. After Sam knew about the news he locked himself up at the band practice place. Then, Yik Him, Yu Fong and her brother, and both of his parents went up there. When the women pretended to be sick, I got really mad. Then, Yu Fong stood up and told the truth. I was excied when she was doing it, and I was like "Let's go Yu Fong! Denounce her!! " Loll, I really wanted the father to know everything...and then finally everything exploded. I thought Sam would be mad at her mother for being so "bad" since he was for his dad, but he wasn't, which surprised me a bit. Yik Him was SO NICE that he even pretend to be mad at her so she would do the surgery! Seriously, I was like, are there really guys this nice? Loll. And the happy part is that Yu Fong helped him through everything! :)

Then, the actual ending. I was getting a bit depressed toward the end of the series because I thought Yik Him and Yu Fung would never hook up and Yik Him was just going to go back with Vincci, because there was like less then 20 minutes left and nothing was happening xD At least Vincci I guess "learned her lesson", and became kinder. She finally let go of her relationship with Yik Him and told him to go after the one he likes. I was like come on, Yik Him, go find Yu Fong now! xD I thought everything was really over when Yu Fong was leaving...cause usually, in series, someone comes to tell some news to the guy, then the guy go runs after the girl. This time, it was just Yik Him discovering the messages in the wheel :) It was so sweet of Yu Fong!! ♥♥ He ran and ran and ran...I was getting tired for him! And I was so afraid he'd get an accident or something. Then, he got up on the thing and yelled for Yu Fong. The part where the girl that was standing with her boyfriend was kinda funny. She was like, "Are you Yu Fong?", so Yu Fong just cried, and she yelled "Yu Fong's over here!!!!!" I really liked it :D It was sooo romantic. Yik Him is so sweet!! Ohhh and forgot to mention another funny part, when Yik Him ran up to Yu Fong's house and asked where she was, and the father was all confused, and her mom said he was so retarded (joking) xD And then, the director of the office, I thought he should have had the chance to meet the girl! It seemed a bit unfinished that he ended up thinking the girl turned into the fat girl xD Same thing for Crystal and the computer guy, wish they could have a more perfect ending.....meaning ending up as a couple because they're the other "Yik Him and Yu Fong" since they help each other a lot and are each other's work partner :) Also wish Yu Fong and Yik Him could have had a kiss scene. But anyways, I'm still satisfied with the ending :D

Morals of the story:

Forgive & Forget (Yik Him forgiving his mom for abandoning him, his stepmom for lying to him, Vincci for not trusting him ; that's what makes him such a loveable character.) 

Take advantage of the present moment because time doesn't last forever (Yik Him and his relationship with his mom)

Go after what you love (Yik Him & Yu Fong's relationship, Yik Him wanting to give up on his job, Yu Fong wanting to give up on her job) 

Be careful about who you trust (Marcus, Yik Him's stepmom, everyone who has lied in all the cases they followed. ) 

With that, I'll let you guys think about it yourself about the themes and morals of the story! :)
